I Seen i -unusual and clever decor at the cnanmngly arranged coffeei given by Mrs. D. R. Ross, her ister-in-law, Mrs. Errol Rosa of oiiverton, and Mra. William Hugh Adams on Thursday and Friday at the former's North Summer Street noma . . . The threesome had loads of fun planning the decor and in fact, before they got through called themselves "the three nut" . . . and even wore corsages of peanuts painted orange and pink, the color acneme of the entire party . . , the corsages caused much com ment and almost stole the show. This was a Gay Nineties party with not a detail overlooked . . . lots of fun for everyone with the women pre senting their own floor show and entertainment, with lots of laughs for everyone . . . Bathing beauties ... of the 90's, Mrs. Frank Brown and Mrs. Howard Jenks, greeting the guests as they arrived and pre senting the male guests with black derbys and mustaches . . . the women entering into the spirit of the party and donning beautiful gowns and large hats trimmed with plumes . . . The long dinner tables covered with red and green checked cloths . . . old fashioned lanterns for the centerpieces . . . and dinner serv ed family style, complete with chicken and dumplings . . . The decor ... was outstanding with large murals decorating, the walls depicting street scenes of the nineties including the bakery, candy shop, barber shop, a gen eral merchandise store and bank . . . and a series of colorful pic tures of "bicycling for two", which had been sent over from Forest Grove, used in their recent barbershop contest . . . and plaud its to Mrs. Stanley Grove and her hard working committee, who were responsible for the wonder ful decorations . . . On with the show . . . Mrs. Lawrence A. Ballmer in a blue silk gown, large hat and carrying a huge fan as "Eadie the Shady Lady" . . . Mrs. Grove as the con stable . . . Mrs. William Bush and Mrs. Dale Parker as "Hortense and Dancing Horse" . . . Mrs. Donald Woodry disguised as "Sam the Shovel Man" ... a group parading signs in behalf of women's suffrage ... and the old sad tale of the widow and her daughter about to be thrown out of their mortgaged home entitled. "Virtue is its Own Reward" . . . the cast including Mrs. Claude A. Miller, Mrs. Robert E. Corey, Mrs. Del Milne, Mrs. Warren Doo little and Mrs, Joseph Moreland, the narrator . . . The meeting will open with a devotional period conducted by Rev. Wayne. Hill, host pastor. A report on the prog ress of the expansion program at the Methodist Home will be given by the president of the board of managers, Mrs V. E. Burson. Presidents of the thirteen soci eties will report on the activities of their groups. District officers will be present and conduct clin ics in their lines of work. A salad lunch will be served by the hos tess society, At the afternoon session Mrs. Roy Lockenour, district secretary of promotion, will conduct a pro motion quit. Mra. L. A. Walworth, president of the Oregon Confer ence, and Mrs. Lawrence Ller man, president of Salem District, will -report on the Assembly of Methodist Women, which they re cently attended in St Louis. Dancing Clubs Calendar Parties for the Weekend Three dancing flubs will wind up their season with parties this coming weekend. The 5 Club will hold a cotton dance Friday night at the American Legion Club. Stubby Mills and his orchestra will play for dancing between 9:30 and 12:30 o'clock. Careosel Sport Daaee The Carousel Club's final dance of the season win be an event of Saturday night at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Mary Flagg Is Bride of Mr. Coburn Miss Mary Flagg and Marvin L. Coburn exchanged their mar riage vows at a morning service on Saturday at the First Presby terian Church. Th bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Flagg and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Coburn of Dundee. Dr. Paul Newton Poling per formed 'the 11 o'clock rites and Mrs. George Ottum was the organist. A ballerina gown of lace and tulle over taffeta was chosen by ( the bride for her wedding. The lace bodice was made with a man darin collar and the tulle skirt was enhanced with insets of lace. A nylon tulle headdress held in place her fingertip veil and she carried red roses. Attend the Couple Mrs. Alice Stipe was the honor matron and she wore a pink dotted Swiss ballerina gown fashioned empire style with pink bow in back. She carried pink and white carnations. Virgil Coburn served as best man. Mrs. Flagg wore a navy blue dress with white accessories and corsage of pink roses for her daughter's wedding and Mrs. Co burn's dress was of royal blue with corsage of pink roses. A reception followed in the church parlor. Mrs. 0. E. Flagg poured and Mrs. James DeBow the cake. When the newlyweds departed on their trip to Palm Springs, Las Vegas and Reno the bride changed to a crystal mint suit with white hat and black patent accessories. On their return to Salem they will be at home at 1320 Nebraska St. Gamma Phis Will Give Benefits Gamma Phi Beta alumnae are entertaining with two benefit parties this week at the Chemek eta Street home of Mr. Frank H. Spears on Tuesday at 1:S0 and t o'clock. Proceeds from the events will benefit the Genevieve Dickey Nelson scholarship fund. Writers to Meet For Dinner Members and guests of the Sa lem Writer's Club will hold a dinner meeting on Thursday, May 22 at 6:45 p.m. at China City. The guest speaker will be Mrs. Peggy Jeanne Brocklinger of Amity. Mrs. Brocklinger's titles of published books are over 100 to date. She writes six novels a year under the pseudonyms of Peggy O'More, Betty Brocklinger, and Jeanne Bowman. Her work is published by Ar cadia House and some of her books have been reprinted in England. Her work is versatile as she has worked on newspapers in Texas, California and the old Portland Telegram. She is cur rently librarian at the Amity Li brary.
