An art show that will be representative of the best in Oregon art is promised for the 1957 Oregon State Fair, open ing in Salem August 31. Mrs. A T King, newly appointed superin tendent of the art department, has enlisted the cooperation of all the "big names" in Oregon's art circles who has promised to enter the best of their work 'This will be the first time that the Oregon State Fair has shown work of this calibre ". said Mrs. King "Ttiis year, with the help ot Dr. Cameron Paulin, head of Willamette I'niverstty's art depart ment, we have redesigned me art department. In the old roller skat ing rink it will have suspended walls and lots of hanging space with good lighting." Mrs. King is a trustee of the Salem Art Association and was first chairman of the art commiU tee of Salem s Bush House Mu seum Among other new features in th art department for this year's fair will be a special section for chil dren's art: a newly designed dis play case for ceramics and pottery and a sculpture court. Twice daily there will be a free showinc of slides of Oregon scenery. Pre miums fur most exhibits will be higher than for previous years.
