' Cirl Kidnaped ' Clo Ann's parents said the fir! was forced at riflepoint ta accom pany Wiegner and Eastman when they fled from Daly City Monday. Late this afternoon, police spotted Eastman driving eastward on the outskirts of Denver in an other stolen car. He offered no resistance when his car was baited. Eastman hat beea charged by the FBI in San Francisco with unlawful flight. Pellce said he had been under treatment at Napa hos pital as an alcoholic with "suicid al tendencies." In Denver General Hospital to night, Wiegner and Clo Ann vowed their love for each other. Wiegner asked detectives to "give my wife a personal message. Tell her, 'I still love you darling"'. Clo Ann replied, "You tell him I still love him, too." : She said she did not know her husband was a mental patient until after leaving Daly City with him. Meanwhile, Webb W. Eastman, also knows as Jesse Red Cloud, was said by Denver police to have been under treat ment at the Napa hospital as an alcoholic with "suicidal tenden cies." "He's gun happy," Wiegner said, "and be needs money bad ly." California officers said Wiegner and another man forced the girl from her parents' homo at gun point Monday, leaving the parents tied and escaping In their car. The young girl was taken to the San Mateo (Calif.) Juvenile Home but later released to her parents. In Daly City, her mother said Clo Ann refused to leave willingly with Wiegner when he broke into the Mowatt borne. "They made us lie on the floor, and they tied up by husband and me," aaid Mrs. Mowatt The parents said they thought Wiegner needed help but Mrs. Mo watt added: "We cant condone what ho has done." Potatoes in Storage Up WASHINGTON, Decl M III - The Agriculture Department re ported today , that atorago stock of potatoes in the hands of grow ers and local dealers on Dec. 1 totaled 118.800,000 hundredweight 13 per cent mora than a year earlier. The agency estimated that merchantable stocks were IS per cent smaller than the total stocks. Maine led all states with total stocks of 83.300,000 hundredweight compared with 30.000.000 a year ago. James Miller, w, the manager, said the man pointed a long-barreled revolver at him, announced it was "a stickup," and ordered him to fill a paper bag with money. The bandit obtained the contents of three eash registers and left after firing a shot into the floor. The gunman was described as about six feet tall and from SO to SS years old. . JO l Rose City Transit Co., which operates Portland's mass transportation system, today asked the City Council for fare increases. '. It wants to substitute a straight 30-centa-a-ride faro for the pres ent rata of three rides for 80 cents and 82.71 for a weekly pass. The 10-cent fare for students would not be raised. i Gen. Mgr. Raymond I. Perkins said the Increases are necessary to prevent an expected operating loss of 147,000 through December and January.
