Tuesday his middle name was in a political controversy. He filed Monday as a candidate (or county supervisor, a nonpartisan office, and said he wants to be listed on the ballot as Roy R. C. (Democrat) Sanderson. The registrar of voters submit ted the matter to Dep. County Counsel William Lamoreaux. who demurred, saying: "If Sanderson can establish in court that Demo crat is his nickname, then it's all right with me." Trouble Is March 10 is the elec tion filing deadline and Sander son's name-change petition isn't due for court bearing until April 15. Sanderson, 36, a Redondo Beach automotive sales engineer, says he may go to court separately on the ballot-listing issue. He said he paid a $360 filing fee and won't get his money's worth 'unless he can use his nickname. And what" does "R C." stand for? "Nothing," he said. "Those initials are my middle name That's why I'm changing it legally to Democrat. I want a name that means something."
