V . leeal middle Dimt ''Demo-! m: 11 grsndchtldren tod four

Everybody calls me that any
way and I've been active in party
work (or many years," he said.
Tuesday his middle name was in
a political controversy. He filed
Monday as a candidate (or county
supervisor, a nonpartisan office,
and said he wants to be listed on
the ballot as Roy R. C. (Democrat)
Sanderson.
The registrar of voters submit
ted the matter to Dep. County
Counsel William Lamoreaux. who
demurred, saying: "If Sanderson
can establish in court that Demo
crat is his nickname, then it's all
right with me."
Trouble Is March 10 is the elec
tion filing deadline and Sander
son's name-change petition isn't
due for court bearing until April
15.
Sanderson, 36, a Redondo Beach
automotive sales engineer, says he
may go to court separately on the
ballot-listing issue. He said he paid
a $360 filing fee and won't get his
money's worth 'unless he can use
his nickname.
And what" does "R C." stand
for? "Nothing," he said. "Those
initials are my middle name
That's why I'm changing it legally
to Democrat. I want a name that
means something."
