Star Sandwiches Lunchccn Feed For Lenten Days For a Lrnlen luncheon. Tuna' Star Sandwiches will arouse en-i thusiasm. The flavor Is appealing,' lince it combines a pood tuna al-; ad, moist and crunch'', with the 1 universally popular slice of Ameri can cheese. The salad dressing hich blerds the tuna. wect Tickle and celery gives the sand wich the desired ninistneu and flavor, so that no additional spread is needed. j TUNA STAR SANDWICHES Tuna salad White bread, sliced, crusts trimmed Sliced process American cheese For each sandwich spread tuna lalad between 2 slices of bread. Cover with a slice of cheese, cut diagonally into quarters ind ar range on a serving trav. TUNA SALAD ' van tuna, uidlliru, lldftCU 1-3 cup diced celery 2 tablespoons chopped sweet pickle cup salad dressing Salt, pepper Combine the tuna, celerv. nickle. salad dressing and seasonings to taste. Statesman, Salem, Ore, Fri., Feb. 2 'i Z f I"; 1 Casserole Flavorful Dish Make Saturday, noon meal hearty, pleasing one to all the family by building it around this easy cheese and tomato flavored casserole. Brown a chopped onion and 2 tablespoons slivered green pepper in butter or margarine. Add a 16 ox. can of tomatoes, a half bay leaf, and salt and pepper; simmer about S minutes. Mix in one and a half cups uncooked noodles and pour into a baking dish. Top with 4 slices American cheese. Bake in a moderate oven 3oO degrees) about 25 minutes, until bubbly. This makes six serv ings. Note: Canned Stewed Tomatoes come seasoned with onions, celery and green pepper, and need no further preparation before mixing With the noodles. QUICK, TOO Prepared macaroni dinner is good served with frankfurters. Tea Biscuits With Tropical Twist Coconut give the tropical taste to these tea biscuits. TROPICAL TEA BISCUITS 2 cups sifted flour 1 tablespoon baking powder i 1 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons sugar 4 cup shortening ' in to cup milk 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted 2 tablespoons sjjg1- U cup shredded coconut, finely chopped Sift together flour, baking pow der, salt and sugar. Cut or rub in shortening until mixture is crumbly. Add milk to make a soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured board or pastry cloth and knead gently 30 seconds. Roll out to rectangle about 8 x 12 inches and l inch thick. Brush with melted buter or margarine. Sprin kle with sugar and coconut. Roll up like jelly roll, beginning at the long side. Seal. Cut into 1-inch slices. Place cut-side down on ungreased baking sheet Brush tops with melted outer or mar garine and sprinkle lightly with sugar. With scissors, cut an "X" through the top of each biscuit. Bake in hot oven (425 degrees) until lightly browned, about 15 minutes. Makes 12 biscuits.
