Walter Russell and Mary Duerst were married October J6. 1905 at the Duerst home, and "moved at once into the home fJiich. they still occupy. The house is on the Andy . Baker donation land claim and is J03 years old. Four golden weddings have tak en place in the Russell and Duerst families in the past 18 months. Mr. and Mrs. Russell have a daughter, Mrs. P.- E. Sullivan of Portland, and three grandchildren, Rosemary and Kathleen Sullivan, who are Grant hish school stu dents, and Patricia Russell, daugh ter of the late Raymond Russell. Mr. Russell was active in the Oregon Legislature from 1925-31, and since that time has been active in cooperative organiza tions. and helped organize the Sheridan Grain Co., Farmers Co op -- Oil. McMinnville-Tillamook-Amity Grain Association, North west Nut Growers, and was one of the 12 unit3 that organized Pacific Supply. Mr. Russell has served as director of all these units, and many more. He has also taken part in many commun ity civic improvements. Curtiss will tell of life in Japan, and show colored slides of scenes in that country for the YWCA pro gram on Tuesday evening. Octo ber 25 in the social hall of the YWCA, Sgt. and Mrs. Curtiss spent two years in Japan, where Sgt. Curtiss was a member of the U. S. Air Force, located on the Misawa Air Base in northern Honshu, Japan. This year Master Sgt. Curtiss is a member of the ROTC staff at Willamette University. YWCA members will be admit ted by their membership cards and non-YWCA members will be charged a small fee.
