The basic plant materials are: (1) lawn grasses, (2) annual flowers, (3) perennial flowers. (3) roses, (4) ornamental shrubs (deciduous and evergreen), (5) fruit-trees, (6) ground covers, and vines. Bulbs, of course, also are used. Some of the attributes of every well-landscaped property, accord ing to the American Association of Nurserymen, are: - j s 1. Open lawn space. Handy Hints for Home Painters When painting interior walls, even up the ceiling line tby painting a narrow strip around the top of the wall first by hand, then brush or roll coat the rest of the wall. For broad wall surfaces, the roller method is faster and leaves no brush marks. Never let a brush rest on its bristles in the paint can or soaking. A carpet tack on the handle will let it hang on the edge of the can. Special brush holders can be bought at your paint store. ; Spring is clean-up time. Even inside the home he doesn't want people walking by, or neighbors, to be able to peer within. j Trees and shrubs can be effec tively planted so they will afford privacy. There are two ways of screening the property, , one by means of shrubs or hedges at the borders of the property, the other by planting or staggering shrubs or trees in depth so that, as one looks in from the street, for instance, he will not be able either to see inside the house, or within the property. Best plants for screening are evergreens, which hold their foli age all year around. Grouping of sucn plant can help to cut off cold winds from the property when planted on the side from which the coldest winds come, thus creating delightful sun pockets. Plant screens can shut off or obscure your neighbor's house, clothesline space, garage, or any view which you may not like. w m. i m m "IllPPEl" Pivir laws Mnir H" end 10' J Cutting " Widths TVcutadj W SatiftU Owant f madlai mwmrf itato te 0m UaiM ul BUT rniia OolriM. i -.
