The river of fog had arisen in my sleep, left its bed of gravel, settl ing in . needled glades on ndges that turned into new bora conti nents, capped with ships of fir set at anchor, rock-wise in spindrift and surf. - Sorely, it was the first morning after the birth of the earth when It lav la its swaddling clothes and an the world was whitened grey. There was no rest within, and I took ship ia the transient sea. I lowered the boat 'of my hopes for the new year from the steps of the honse and set sail to search out the prophecy coming with the ran. When the house had drowned .in my mind and I was full sail upon the sea I cast forth my baited nets; down deep into mines of moisture, afloat amidst the trees. I ,cast my whys and wherefores. I sought the breeding grounds of the future my eyes could not see." some strange prematurity to find before others knew I had been to sea this morning before the sun.
