Leg art or cheese cake has been the eye-catcher of just about every advertising cam paign made and quite naturally came into its own with an early rush on very visual video. While the shapely, J i m b Ry ' holds the' ipot- i light exclusive- f iy in s o ra e plugs, attach ed anatomy goes a long with it in the usual ad. The leg itself ha i the toe hold on appeal, however, which ac counts for a bevy of six lovely ladies just signing up their gams for a coming string of soap tele commercials. Just for fun weH give yon the names and when the ads appear you might start a new parlor game, by trying to figure out whose calves are whose. Vir ginia Lee, Patsy Bangs, Dorothy Abbot, Fay NuelL Gloria DeWord and Betty Hannon are the leggy creatures. We'd say Virginia Let sounds like the tall, slinky type and Patsy could be a bit kiddish with pins like a drum majorette. You take over from there. A HIT AND A MISS: A strong comeback was staged by "Studio One" this week after Its muddled qaandary ef - the preceding Monday. UnnsnaJ la a couple ef ways, "Let Me Ga, Lover" bad good drama and rlginallty, plus the distinctJoa (being the first TV playhoasa to launch a vocal recording by young miss also facing her big first Songstress Joan Weber made the disc which rax as background and also served as a communication code for the play's harassed disc jockey hero. Top credit should go to adapter Henry Miser ock who demonstrate . ed fine craftsmanship sharply contrasting with "Studio One's" proceeding job which was -an . awkward version of Justice Doug las' famous tome on American Freedom. 'This was a painful ex ample of genius out-geniusing himself and art stripping its gears in a garbled effort to con vey a most worthy message that arrived in a tattered and twistetl condition. Well spare the adapt er of this hodge-podge the use of his name if "Studio One" will spare us from any more of his ridiculous pipe dreams. ',.... e e A LAUGH AND A CHILL: . : Televiewers faced a tough de cision Monday evening as "De cember Bride" faced "The Hunchback of Notre Dame across the networks. Spring , , Byington has been palling them into her excellently rounded oat light comedy, and Robert Mont gomery was bound to make the first half of his two-part "Hunchback" another powerful drama. . And the author of Robert Mont gomery's presentation was also pretty good, being, of course, Victor Hugo who wrote nothing but classics. And Robert made certain that genius was done quite proud. Direction and stag' ing were superb. A powerful book, a gripping play, a spectacular movie, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" was all of those in the impressively capable bands of a marvelous cast headed by Robert Ellenstein as the grotesquely pitiful "Quasi modo." Too many years have elapsed since the noted Lon Chancy made this character true flesh and blood on the screes . for us to draw a comparison, but Robert did all we -could ask for of the part. ;. .
