Its principle function is man agement and operation of the 10 state institutions. They are the two .state hospitals, state prison, Fairview Home, MacLaren School, two state tuberculosis hospitals. blind school, deaf school and Hill' crest School. Bit Job i One of Mill's largest single tasks as secretary has been to handle the board's sprawling con struction program. He has many other duties, but .this is the heavi est. L ) The state has been caught up In a large post-war building program. Since 1948 some 119,000,000 worth of construction is underway. And a new $23,000,000 program is planned. . , This does not include the $2, 000,000 public service building built in Salem and a similar $2, 650,000 building constructed in Portland.
