While House Press Secretary James C. Hagerty said the plans were canceled because there was five inches of snow on the ground at Camp David, the presidential retreat not far from Gettysburg. Instead of the trip Mrs. Eisen hower and the Queen Mother took a sight-seeing tour around Wash ington. ; M . The Queen Mother was to leave the White House about 4:30 or 5 p.m. to begin her stay at the Brit ish Embassy. Towns Report Progress in River Cleanup PORTLAND Ufi Representa tives from four Oregon towns, cited to appear before the State Sanitary Authority in connection with sewage problems, ( reported Friday they were making prog ress. . : i . Two new citiations were issued other communities in the author ity's river cleanup campaign. Drain and Harrisburg in the Willamette Valley, and The Dalles and Hood River, along the Colum bia, reported progress in sewage disposal programs. Wheat, Lard Prices Strong CHICAGO (J) Soybeans were unable to sustain j their drive to higher prices on the: Chicago Board of Trade this week, but wheat, corn, lard established a strong market. I i Wheat finished the week V-l cents higher, corn was up , oats were V higher to v ft . lower, and rye was 4 ft to 6 cents lower. Soybeans , ended -2 cents off and lard was 25. to 5 cents higher. Lack of moisture in parts of the Southwest was preventing winter wheat from being planted.
