The President's wife had "hoped
to give the Queen a guided tour of
the Pennsylvania battlefield site
and of the old farmhouse which
she and the President are rebuild
ing as a retirement home.
While House Press Secretary
James C. Hagerty said the plans
were canceled because there was
five inches of snow on the ground
at Camp David, the presidential
retreat not far from Gettysburg.
Instead of the trip Mrs. Eisen
hower and the Queen Mother took
a sight-seeing tour around Wash
ington. ; M .
The Queen Mother was to leave
the White House about 4:30 or 5
p.m. to begin her stay at the Brit
ish Embassy. This evening she will
attend a dinner in her honor at the
Australian embassy given by Am
bassador and Lady Spender.
The, Queen, Mother attended 8
press reception yesterday.

market this week, and it celebrated
with the most vigorous advance in
more than. 16 years. :

60 stocks advanced $4 JO on the
week, the most that the average
has gained in a single week since
the final week of June, 1938. That
was when the nation was shaking
off the king-size setback that start
ed in the recession of 1937.
The post-election drive ahead
took Uie average up to a new 25-
