Valley News Statesman News Service Monmouth Parents, Teachers Hear Reports of Convention lUbimu News 8rr1ec MONMOUTH Reports of the state convention in Salem were given at a meeting this week of the Monmouth Elementary P-TA. President Harold Elkins presided. Prior to the business session and reports, the group conducted a song festival Mrs. Dora Scott announced that th the annual Music Festival will be held at the Oregon College of Education gymnasium on May 18. Miss Ruth uriuitn, wno is mov ing to Colorado at the close of the school year, thanked the P-TA. members for the co-operation and friendliness while she has been here and she extended an invitation to- friends to visit her in Denver. Mrs. Floyd Albin announced the newly organized 4-H clubs fcave been active, and there was a display of some of the work the children have done. Art Stump, incoming president, discussed the need for additional school facilities. With the use of drawings, he showed where and why new buildings are needed. Mrs. Harry Hargreaves, past president of the state P-TA., in stalled the new officers for the coming year. Besides the presi dent, they are Mrs. Walter Leth, vice president; Mrs. Mel Purvis, Ceremony Slated For New School Statesman News Service DALLAS A short program at 10:15 a.m. Friday will feature the laying of the cornerstone at the new Dallas High School building, one of the final steps in construc tion. News stories, photographs and other material pertaining to the new school will be placed in the cornerstone for posterity. Salt Creek Tbe 4H Health Club is planning a hike Friday on the old Sales farm. They plan to leave the school at 10:30 a. m. and return Friday' afternoon. Oakdale The Spoon and Thim ble Club prepared a breakfast at their recent meeting and served oranges, cereal, toast, scrambled eggs and cocoa. The next meet ing will be May 19. Salt Creek The drinking foun tain financed by school children was recently installed in the school gym.
