Hear Reports of Convention

MONMOUTH Reports of the state convention in Salem were
given at a meeting this week of the Monmouth Elementary P-TA.
President Harold Elkins presided.
Prior to the business session and reports, the group conducted
a song festival Mrs. Dora Scott announced that th the annual
Music Festival will be held at the Oregon College of Education
gymnasium on May 18.

the school year, thanked the
P-TA. members for the co-operation
and friendliness while she
has been here and she extended
an invitation to- friends to visit
her in Denver.
Mrs. Floyd Albin announced
the newly organized 4-H clubs
fcave been active, and there was
a display of some of the work the
children have done.
Art Stump, incoming president,
discussed the need for additional
school facilities. With the use of
drawings, he showed where and
why new buildings are needed.
Mrs. Harry Hargreaves, past
president of the state P-TA., in
stalled the new officers for the
coming year. Besides the presi
dent, they are Mrs. Walter Leth,
vice president; Mrs. Mel Purvis,

10:15 a.m. Friday will feature the
laying of the cornerstone at the
new Dallas High School building,
one of the final steps in construc
tion. News stories, photographs and
other material pertaining to the
new school will be placed in the
cornerstone for posterity. Milo
Smith, head of the speech depart
ment, will be master of cere
monies for the event.

Club is planning a hike Friday on
the old Sales farm. They plan to
leave the school at 10:30 a. m. and
return Friday' afternoon.
Oakdale The Spoon and Thim
ble Club prepared a breakfast at
their recent meeting and served
oranges, cereal, toast, scrambled
eggs and cocoa. The next meet
ing will be May 19.

school gym. Saturday a new sup
ply cupboard was built in the
school

Scout troop earned $27 last week
at its pancake and waffle supper.

Spring Valley Mrs. Seth
B. Dodge who has been a patient
at a Salem hospital for three
weeks, is reported to be conval
escing satisfactorily. Her mother,
Mrs. Ollie Conley of Eugene, is
visiting with Mrs. Dodge.
Marqnam Paul Unrig and
Arnold Sipe left Wednesday for
Prince George, B. C, with a load
of machinery. The' P&a to work
on Uhrig's 400-acre farm in that
area.
