Cordon .said he sees no business recession ahead. He predicted that employment viH continue high be cause of consumer demand from an increasing population. ; Government spending also will 'continue to , have its ' effect and, although taxes- are high, this mon ey goes back into the "economy, the senator said. He pointed' out that even foreign aid money brings the benefits of . foreign purchases in this country. .Cordon predicted that Congress will provide the money needed to install generators at McNary Dam. Library Start Aim of Project A project aimed at creating committees throughout the state to form small local libraries was adopted by the board of direc tors of the Oregon Library As sociation at the first meeting of their, fiscal year, this week. McNary Pool Rise' Forces : Road Closure The new highway between Uma tilla, Ore., and Wallula, Wash., will be closed Saturday for at least a month because of the danger the road is being undermined, the Ore gon Highway Department said Wednesday. ' W. C Williams, Assistant state highway engineer, said there was danger the pool of water rising behind McNary .Dam was washing away some nils ir the road, which was relocated, recently because of the dam, ' y?vV-" ' .He said the pool was ' being raised to 340 feet above sea level, and it would take another, month to reach that point After that level is reached, any needed repairs will be made and the road re opened, he said.
