Support Palsoy Patient The Spinsters, philanthropic organization, are busy sponsoring a rummage sale this weekend to raise money for their two large projects this year; supporting a student at the Children's Hospital in Eugene and furnishing rooms at the Salem General and Salem Memorial Hospitals. The girls who work to earn this money hold full time positions or have homes and fam ilies of their own. First Benefit Raised $20 The first benefit netted $20 which they gave to the Salem General Hospital for new dishes. This was about the time of the Bandon fire which nearly wiped out the little town in Southern Oregon. The group worked night and day organizing relief for these people. They solicited the town for donations of clothing, food and furniture, and they were able to send five truckloads of ..provisions to this disaster area. The Spinsters were organized 20 years ago in September, com posed of young unmarried women who desired, to work for civic benefit' They were affiliated with the national organization of Spinsters and Jean Wilson was the first president There were 20 charter members.
