An ancient tale claimed Giertrud was buried while in a state of sus pended animation, and the night after the funeral grave-robbers had mad their ay into the vault in tent on stealing jewelry the rich young widow had on her when buried. When one of them tore violently at an ear ring, the story ran, Gier trud awoke with pain and sat up in her coffin. .Unmoved by her horror, the ghouls raped her and killed her with a spade. "It seems to be the true version, too." said Dr. Viggo Starcke, fourth generation relative of Gier trud and organizer of the search for her remains. Tuesday surgeons win start X- raying the skull. Benson Praised by Dr. Burt Wood CORVALLIS m Oregon State's Dr. Burt Wood, a member of the Interim agricultural advisory com mittee appointed by President. elect Eisenhower, has high regard for Ezra Taft Benson, secretary- designate of the Department of Agriculture. Wood, head of the college de partment of agricultural econom ics, has Just returned from a meeting of an advisory committee of 14 agricultural leaders with Benson. "Secretary Benson is earnestly and sincerely trying to develop a program which will be not only to the advantage of the nation s farmers but to the nation as a whole," Wood said in an Inter view. He emphasized that the com mittee is an advisory, not an ad ministrative body. The committee made certain recommendations, he added, but final decisions rest en tirely with the secretary . and his staff. He said another, meeting of the committee was discussed, but no date was set Wood declined to discuss specific problems covered at the three-day conference. Comment on these he concluded, should come from the secretary.
