The affair will honor the active members home from col lege for the holidays, their mothers and mo thers of alumnae. Guests have been invited to call at 3:30 o'clock. Mrs. Robert Drager will greet the guests at the door. Presiding at the tea urns will be Mrs. George Rossman and Mrs. David Eason. Mrs. Roscoe Wilson heads the directorate for the tea, assisted by Mrs. Donald Rasmus sen, Mrs. Lauren Gale, Mrs. Newbury Close and Mrs. Lester D. Green. SOCIETY CLUBS MUSIC Y I Neiv Years Eve Party Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Needham and Mrs. U. Scott Page have planned a New Year's Eve party for a group of their friends. The hosts have invited guests to a 7 o'clock din ner at the Golden Pheasant and covers will be placed for sixteen. After the dinner hour the group will go to the Needham home on Shipping Street for cards and to welcome in the New Year. Joining her family in Salem for the holidays was Miss Roberta Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Meyer. She has been living in Southern California the past year and recently in Hollywood. Miss Meyer leaves Ian. 4 for the south to join the Hor mel radio show, '"Music for the Girls." She was recently chosen, aft er an audition, to be the featured comedienne on the variety show. Lucas and chidren, Bar bara, David and Don, who are guests at the home of Lt. Lucas' parents, Mr. and Mrs. James E. Lucas. They have been residing at Camp Gordon, Ga., and after the first of the year will leave for Camp Parks, Calif. (Kennell-Ellis Studio). Visiting in the capital during the holiday season from Baker are Mrs. John Horton and son, Bill, who are1 guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. P. Duffy, and her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart McElhinny. Mr. Horton joined his fam ily here for Christmas and they will remain until New Year's. (Kennell-Ellis Studio). Many Events Fill Holiday Calendar . . By JERYME ENGLISH Statesman Society Editor The coming week is filled wi.h numerous holiday parties including teas, at homes, New Year's eve dances and parties. Headlining the weeks' events will be the civic recep tion planned for Monday night between 7 and 10 o'clock at the State Capitol in compli ment to former Governor and Mrs. Douglas McKay. The affair will climax McKay day In Salem prior to the couple's departure for Washington1 D. C, where he will be secretary of the interior in President-elect Dwigh' Eisenhower's Cabinet. The public is invited to attend this farewell civic reception and the McKays will receive informally before the entrance way to the governor's chamber. Entertaining with an informal open houpe following the civic reception are Brig. Gen. and Mrs. Raymond F. Olson, who have invited guests to their North 19th Street home. The affair will honor National Guard personnel from the Salem area, Portland and other valley points, who will be here for the reception. Guests have been asked to call after 8 o'clock. Also on the calendar for Monday' night will be the Junior Catholic Daughters winter formal at the Catholic Center between 9 and 12 o'clock. Charlie Nee and his orchestra Till play for dancing and "skaters holiday" is the theme of the dance. A large group of the teen-age contingent will attend the affair.
