Mrs. John Cerny will direct the sale of seals on the streets of cities In the county. The sale will be bekl on a Saturday prior to Easter. Members yoted to give a dinner for an auxiliary group in ApriL An apron sale will be held at the next meeting. The beit apron submitted will be sent to the county grange contest. Mrs. Frank Sellenberger was assistant hostess. Four candidates for member ship were voted on favorably at the grange meeting Saturday rusht. Roberts grange will visit Jteizer Grange on March 5. Plans were made for an informal prac tice session for grange officers and members to be held Sunday after rjoen. March 2nd. Hamilton, chap ter chairman for this project. Twenty - four elementary and three high schools in the county are now enrolled In the work. The largest contribution from elemen tary schools was $15. 23 from the Perrydale school with 100 pupils. Dallas High School turned in $1 1.37 as the largest sum from high schools. The enrollment Is 412 students. Some 42 gift boxes have been filled to send to some undetermin ed place. Last year's boxes were sent to Korea. Other activities include the mak ing of 150 Thanksgiving menu covers for the Roseburg Veterans Hospital and sending 22 dozen cookies, by the Camp Fire Girls, under the leadership of Mrs. Ildon Bevens; pupils at the Henry HiU elementary school at Independence under the leadership of Mar garet Perry, sent 100 nut cups and menu covers to the hospital for Christmas and will send more for Easter; The Dallas Junior High will send 150 menu covers for St. Patrick's Day. Marjorie Nelson of Dallas High School attended the camp for Junior at Silver Creek Falls last summer and was elected to repre sent the chapter on the district board. She has been active in JRC enrollment and with Mrs. Hamil ton addressed a group at the Hen ry Hill School at Independence last week. Farmer-Merchant Banquet March 3 In Dallas City Hall Statesman Ncwi Servlca DALLAS The 13th annual Polk County farmer-merchant banquet has been scheduled for Monday, March 3, at Dallas City Hall. The 1952 banquet is sponsored by the farmers. Aiding in plans is the county PMA committee com prising Charles Ross, John Dick inson and Merton Bissell, secre tary Claude Hoisingtort and Ex tension Agent N. John Hanson. Tickets will be mailed this week to community PMA committee men, who will sell them to the farmers and their guest. Approxi mately 200 tickets are available.
