Annual Library BenefitTea Woodburn The 44th annual Martha Washington tea will be held at the Public Library Friday, Feb. 22. The affair has been an annual event of the Woodburn Woman's Club since 1908 and pro vides most of the money for new books for the library. The library is supported by a 3 mill city tax, administered by a board appoint ed by the mayor. However, only $150 of the tax money is available for new books, the majority of the money going for salary and re pairs. Last year $1100 was spent in operation, maintenance and- re pairs. A program, beginning at 2 p.m., will open with a welcome by Mrs. O. R. Randall, president of the Woman s t;iuD. jviusicai uuuiuj will be a saxaphone quartet from the Washington School, a girls vo cal trio from Gresham, pantomine by Miss Shirley Anderson, vocal solo by Miss Robin Berkey of Hub bard and a double octette from the Woodburn High School. Mrs. Mary S. Allen, president of the Rebekah Assembly, will make an official visit to Salem Rebekah Lodge 1, at 8 o'clock Saturday. Lodges in the district are Woodburn, Quinaby, Canby, Scotts Mills, Hubbard, Monitor, Buvenon ana oaiem. Chadwick Chapter In Session The regular meeting of Chad wick Chapter Order of Eastern Star was held in the Masonic Tem ple on Tuesday night. Out-of-town visitors were Mrs. Patricia Drys- dale of Vancouver, B. C, and Mrs. jymarea inursion or jenerson. An announcement was made by j Mrs. Curtis Hale that a rummage sale will be held March 28 and 29 at Beaver Hall with Mrs. Glenn j Paxon and Mrs. Paul Griebenow as chairmen. Miss Leila Johnson gave a read ing, "George Washington the Business Man." Those having birthdays in Feb ruary were honored. After the meeting, refreshments were served by Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Hunley, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fowler and Miss Gwyn Phillips. The social afternoon will be held Tuesday, Feb. 26 with Mrs. Myrtle Perry as chairman of the refreshment committee. Kappa Kappa Gamma alnmnae were entertained Monday night at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Roscoe Wilson. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Lester D. Green, Mrs. Robert Strebig and Miss Margaret Wag-I ner. During the meeting plans j were made for the spring activities of the group and for the program Dr. Wilson played organ selec tions.
