10 Th Statesman, Salem. Oregon. Wednesday. Not. 21, 1S51 Stock Market Recovery Guts Back Losses NEW YORK, Nov. 20 -trV A last-minute recovery today in the stock market cut back losses ma terially, but 'the market neverthe less closed on the downside. There were plenty of dividend declarations to keep things lively, and surprises in such evoked in- slant response. Aside from these special situa tions, the market today was large ly a routine ; trading affair well within the framework of the past three or four weeks. . The Associated Press average of 60 stocks fell 30 cents at $95.90 with the industrial component off 10 cents, rails 50 cents, and utili ties 10 cents. Lack of trading interest was in dicated by the low volume of 1, 120,000 shares. Yesterday's 1,020, 000 shares was the lowest since July 11. The list broadened out a little from yesterday with 1,100 'individual issues appearing on the tape of which 286 advanced and 555 declined with 7 new highs and 53 new lows.
