Valley Obituaries William mains - i lUUiau, Mews Strvke ALBANY Services for William Filkins, 61, who died at the family home in the Ash Swale commun ity November 6 following a short illness, will be held under direc tion of Fisher funeral home at 2 pjn. Thursday, .November 8, from the Brownsville Christian church. Burial will be in -the Brownsville Masonic cemetery. . Filkins was born at lone on Nov. 7, 1890. Since 1928 he had lived at Ash Swale. At one ume ne was a bridge carpenter for the Southern Pacific railroad company, but re cently had been employed by the Brownsville Timber Co. On Oct. 4. 1916, in Albany, Mr, Filkins married Eva Elswick who survives. One brother, Charles Fil kins, Samoa, Calif., also survives. lire- Ann Hansen - ALBANY Mrs. Ann Maris Hansen, 95, died Monday at the home of her daughter. Mrs. F. A. Johnson, following a long illness. The body is being sent by the Fish er Funeral home to Logan, Utah, where services will be held. Mrs. Hansen spent 92 years of her life in Logan, Utah. She came to Albany three years ago to live with her daughter. She was a mem. kber of the Latter Day Saints. Sur viving are two daughters, Mrs. Johnson of Albany and Mrs. H. B. Ames of Santa Maria, Calif.; a brother, Samuel Mitton, Logan, Utah; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs, Alexander spoke to a large audience which included teachers from district 13C OCE, and OCE students who are members of the Future, .Teacher association. Mon mouth was one oft the four Oregon towns on Mrs. Alexander's speak ing schedule. Others were Eugene, Koseourg and saiem. Fall Sunshine is Boon to Farmers -- - In Cloverdale Area i lUtwnti Nawa ferric CLOVERDALE-The many daya of sunshine here have greatly enabled farmers to get most of the fall harvesting and plowing under way. John i Schif ferer ran his dryer where walnuts were dried this year for many of the local neigh bors, while they were also drying their own. A fair crop has been reported in this area. Fall sowing and plowing have been seen everywhere during the past two weeks, as most farmers have taken advantage of the ideal conditions. ' Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hedges are on a trip to Gettysburg, S.D., to visit her parents. In a letter to relatives here they reported en countering much snow at Boulder, Colo, where they visited a son, v croon neages.
