Sears Staff Share Stock In Company A total of 118 employes of Sears, Roebuck and Co.'s Salem store ac cumulated $230,033 in the com pany's saving and profit sharing pension fund, James Mosolf, store manager, announced Thursday at a meeting of the store's fund mem bers. The employe - members were called together to receive their an nual individual statements. These statements show the extent to which each member is sharing in the company's 1950 profits. This local employe group has to its credit in the fund 3,494 shares of Sears stock plus a cash balance of $46,598. Based on a year-end mar ket value of $52.50 per share for the Sears stock, this group now has total investment worth $230, 033. Total current assets of the fund have reached $349,400,000. The total holdings of the fund now ap proximate 23 per cent of the com pany's stock, Mosolf revealed. The Sears fund started 35 years ago, has a two-fold purpose to permit employes to share in the company's profits and to assist them in creating a financial re serve which will help them take care of their needs following re tirement. Employe members of the fund deposit five per cent of their salar ies up to a $250 maximum deposit info the fund each year. Sears an nual contribution into the fund is based on an established percent age of its profits, credited to employe-members on a , length-of-service basis. PUC Chapter Holds Monthly; Session Monthly meeting of the Willam ette chapter, Public Utilities com mission, was held Wednesday night at the Salem Woman's club. The chapter voted to invite the board of control as members of the chap ter, with a membership drive to take place this spring. John Kelly is president of the group. I School Patrols Trim Mishaps At Crossings Operations of Oregon school pa trols apparently is paying off, ac cording to a recent study of the state highway department. Accident involving school-age pedestrians were reduced 50 per cent in the first six months of 1950 as compared with the same period in "1949, the department reported. Only 1.2 per cent of all school age pedestrian victims were struck at crossings guarded by school pa trols, with no fatalities. In 1949 a 2.4 percentage was recorded. More than 100 such patrols are now in operation under an accel erated program sponsored jointly by the secretary of states office and the highway department. SHO W DATES SET The,- -annual Marlon county spring 4-H show will be held in Stayton April 23 to 27. Exhibits will be placed in the civic building and demonstrations of the various phases of 4-H club- work will be displayed. There will be contests in baking and preparation of dol lar dinners.
