' Exceptions to the general trend were new crop wheat deliveries and the March soybean contract. These had minor gains. Wheat ended lower to higher, corn was unchanged to lower, oats were unchanged to lower, rye 1 was , 1 to 1 lower, soybeans were lower to V High er and lard was 7 to 23 cents a hundred pounds lower. Buying In new crop wheat de liveries reflected a dry week-end In the winter wheat belt, with no Important moisture expected to night or tomorrow. Demand never became veryagressive. : The March wheat" contract readied $2.21 at one time, new peak on the current advance and less than 1 cent under the season al high. This upturn followed news that Italy had requested of fers on about 3,000,000 bushels of hard wheat for delivery in March nd ApriL j Failure of the advance In March to hold was attributed partly to Ero fit-taking as this contract has ad a good gain over the past few weeks. Stocks of wheat afloat and In store at Chicago this week total 6,820000 bushels, (down from 7,485,000 In the preceding week. Fibres Firm's Profits Rise DETROIT, Feb. 20-J. R.
