The group is interdenomination al at Willamette, but since the school is Methodist so are most of i the club members. One active is a Presbyterian. - , The Oxford name is derived from the group at Oxford univer sity surrounding John Wesley, out of which grew the MethodLrt church. The title is used on several ' campuses. -Here the group has been active off and on since 1896, with the present club formed in X47. . T- Monthly meetings include Bible ctady, ministers and laymen as speakers, discussion of how mem bers should work on the campus. .Mill City to Have Conference of CE h'V - ' j MILL CITY, Jan. 13 The Wil lamette Union Christian Endeavor will hold its monthly meeting Sun day at 2:30 p.m. at First Christian church in Mill City. The Rev. Walter Naff, associate minister at First Christian church in Salem, will be guest speaker. Following this meeting will be an executive meeting for all union officers, society presidents and pastors. Progress Year Noted Here by The 100th year of St. Paul's Episcopal church parish in Salem was its greatest in growth, the Rev. George H. Swift, rector, re ported Sunday night at the annual congregational meeting. Vestry men and officers were elected. The rector reported 70 persons confirmed during 1949, while the Sunday school had its peak en rollment. He pointed out the grow ing need, for a new cnurcn Duna- Ing, on which the congregation hopes to start soon. New vestrymen elected were Wallace Carson, R. H. Baldock, Dr. Charles D. All departments will meet in the church auditorium it 9:45 for a general worship service - and then go by -groups to the new building, which has more than 20 rooms. The reinforced concrete struct ure, with two stories and a base ment, was built at a cost of about $65,000. Each floor has a depart ment assembly room and a fire place.
