known as the Oxford club. All
members plan to become ministers,
; directors of religious education,
(Missionaries or work In some
other Christian service.
, Membership is drawn from ap
proximately 50 students now on
the campus, according to Rex
Iindemood. president, a senior
from Twin Falls. Idaho. The num
ber is believed to be the highest
tn the religious field at Willam

t Task
For Use Now
the credit for this situation is
given to the 1947 Cleveland con
ference of Methodist youth. The
Inspiration and direction of that
meeting aided many young peo
ple in decisions for their vocations.
The 'pre-theologs," majoring in
philosophy, sociology, history or
religion, include about two men
: to one woman, but the proportion
, of women is increasing. The num
ber of graduates planning to en-
, ter seminaries or church work Is
growing steadily.'
The group is interdenomination
al at Willamette, but since the
school is Methodist so are most of
i the club members. One active is a
Presbyterian. -
, The Oxford name is derived
from the group at Oxford univer
sity surrounding John Wesley, out
of which grew the MethodLrt
church. The title is used on several
' campuses. -Here the group has
been active off and on since 1896,
with the present club formed in
X47. . T-
Monthly meetings include Bible
ctady, ministers and laymen as
speakers, discussion of how mem
bers should work on the campus.

When he prophesied .among the prophets, the people said. Is
Saul also among the .phophets?
And Samuel called the people together, snd they went to
Gilgal and made Saul king before the Lord.
Samuel said to. Saul. Thus saith the Lord, I remember what
Amalek did to Israel. Now go and smite Amalek, and destroy
all that they have. And Saul smote the Amalekites, and took
Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and spared the best of the
sheep, and of the oxen. And Samuel came to Saul, and Saul said,
I have performed the commandment of the Lord. And Samuel '
said. What meaneth then the bleating of the sheep, and the low

the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the Lord.

And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I. have trans

thee, pardon my sin. And he laid hold upon the skirt of hia

rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given
it to a neighbor of thine, that is better than thou. And Samuel
came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: neverthe
less Samuel mourned for Saul.
The Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for
Saul, seeing I have rejected him? I will send thee to Jesse the
Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons. And
Samuel looked on Eliab, and said. Surely the Lord's anointed is
before him.

And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him. And he brought
him in. And the Lord said, This ia he. Then Samuel took the horn
of oil, and anointed him. And the Spirit of the Lord came upon
David from that day forward.
