Martin-Lally and Mrs. Hewitt will head a Marion Luis Roy R. county delegation to attend the democrats annual Jeffers-on-Jackson banquet at Portland Saturday. Martin-Lally is chairman, and Mrs. Hewitt, vice chairman of the county central committee. They will cast ballots for new state officers at the party's biennial meeting Saturday afternoon. U. S. Sen. Estes Kefauver (d Tenn.), leading spokesman for TVA, will be guest speaker at the evening banquet. About 600 state party leaders are expected to at tend the sessions. Bus Employes Sponsor Outing For Deaf Students About 40 children from the Ore gon School for the Deaf had an outing at Silver Falls state park Monday sponsored by employes of the Salem Greyhound terminal and drivers stationed at Salem. The group left Monday noon by chartered bus and spent four hours at the park playing games and hiking trails. Refreshments were furnished by the Minto cigar stand and Kline and Johnston's restaur ant, both of which are located in the new Greyhound terminal. A similar Outing was sponsored by local Greyhound employes two years ago, according to V. H. Swit zer, the firm's Salem agent. Mrs. Arneson Resigns from ARC Position Mrs. Louise Arneson. director of nursing services for the Marion county chapter, American Red Cross, since 1942, announced her resignation Tuesday, effective May 15. Mrs. Ameson said she is plan ning to go into other work. Mrs. Arneson from 1940 to 1942 was a volunteer worker, teaching home nursing. In October of 1942 she went on the paid staff to direct the nursing services recruiting and training nurses aides, conduct ing home nursing classes, recruit ing nurses ifor the armed forces and assisting with the wartime blood bank. Under Mi's. Arneson's direction, the local nurses aide corps won a citation of merit from the U. S. civilian defense office for having maintained j such a large number, also for having the largest num ber of volunteer hours, per capita.
