Silverton Program Friday for Band e SILVERTON Johnny Carpen ter of Portland is to be master of ceremonies at the uniform bene fit sponsored by the Band Par ents' association Friday, April 22, at 8 p. m. Acts from Mt. Angel, Woodburn, Monitor, Salem, Portland and other communities will be given. The numbers run the gamut from comedy, through oldtime fiddlers and symphonic violin renditions to a mixed chorus of 60 voices and a family orchestra. SILVERTON JUSTICE COURT SILVERTON Three fines were meted out in Justice court her to day. Judge Alf O. Nelson fined Ar chie Naset and William C Whit each $2S and costs and a 30-day suspended jail sentence on charges of vagrancy. Lawrence Fields was fined $29 and given a five-day jail sentence on a charge of contempt of court. According to the complaint Fields failed to appear as a witness after being served with a subpoena. A similar charge against the defend ant's wife was taken under advise ment by Judge Nelson. The girls are making drapes and slip covers to be used with a sofa and chair set given them by the Sears, Roebuck's Foundation fund. Plans are to have at least part of the project completed by May 6, date for a Mothers' tea.
