For her wedding the bride chose floor length gown of Alice blue , crepe with matching hat and cor- , case of white orchids. Miss Mar fori Hawkins of Denver was the honor attendant and wore an ash- 'ea of roses gown with a gardenia ' -corsage. ' Best man for the groom was Conrad W. Werth and the ushers : were Glenn C. Werth and Lee Schneider at Denver. After March 13 Mr. Johnston and his bride will be at home in ; Salem at 1648 South Liberty ! street. He is employed by the City of Salem in the water depart- ..pjnent. The new Mrs. Johnston was an active club woman in Colorado. . serving as fine arts chairman of the State Federation of Women's clubs and an active member of .the DAR. Prior to her marriage she was vice-president of the Den ver Civic Garden club as well as associate editor of the Colorado Garden magazine. She also sang at the Central Presbvterian church In Denver. Geological Banquet Nearly a hundred attended the Salem Geological Society banquet at the Mayflower hall Wednesday Bight. Organizations represented were Cbemeketaas, Willamette Gem Cutters. Sweet Home Miner al Society and Geology Society of the Oregon country. Theme of the banquet was a tribute to Dr. Thomas Condon, tamer of Oregon geology. Each guest was presented with a picture of Dr. Condon and the entire mo tif was geological. The menu was written in geological terms. Main feature of the evening was an Impersonation of the pioneer circuit rider presented by A. W. Hancock of Portland. Other speak ers were Fay Li boy, director of state mineral industries and geo logy, and Leo Simon, president of the GSOC. Other events on the program Included solo by Mrs. Clark Lethin; piano numbers by Mrs. Ted Gordon;' flue solos by Mrs. James c. Stone, accomnan led by Miss Alice Crary Brown; talk by George R. K. Moorhead ana impersonations by A. W. Han cock. Carl Smith was toastmaster and Charles Layport, the new presi dent, presemea a gin 10 tne out going president, Edwin ' Minar, Mrs. Ted Gordon was in .charge ef the banquet and Mrs. C. L. Bowes of the displays. Knickerbockers Are Honored JEFFERSON One hundred rel atives and friends called during the day when Mr. and Mrs. Ernest K. Knickerbocker of Albany ob served their ' golden wedding an fauversary. They are parents of Mrs. Albert Meyers of Jefferson. Arrangements of yellow roses and daffodils decorated the guest rooms. The serving table was cov "ered by a hand-embroidered linen cloth, made by Mr. Knickerbock er's mother, and. was centered by .a large wedding cake baked by Mrs. Albert Meyers of Jefferson and patterned- from her father s Jrandmother's cake made for all amily occasions. Club to Hear Discussion "My Part in the New Salem" is the subject for a panel discussion to be given at the Salem Woman's club meeting Saturday afternoon at the clubhouse at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Coe Roberts will lead the panel and taking part will be Mrs. J. Wesley Sullivan, Mrs. A. H. Rand all and Mrs. Sidney A. Boise. A board meeting at one o'clock will precede with Mrs. Guy Hic kok presiding. The tea committee chairman is Mrs. N. S. Rogers and assisting are Mrs. Ralph DaMetz, Mrs. Rob ert R. Board man, Mrs. Donald J. Madison, Mrs. H. M. Hayles, Mrs. Frederick Eley and Mrs. David H. Cameron. The March meeting ef the Junior guild of St. Pauls Episcopal church will be Tuesday, March 8 with a one o'clock no-host luncheon in the Parish house. The luncheon committee will be Mrs. Harry Wen deroth, chairman, assisted by Mrs. Harry Weidmer, and Mrs. V. E. Kuhn. Those attending are asked to bring sewing accessories to work hon dish towels. Plans for the rum mage sale to be held March 11 and 12 will be completed under the chairmanship of Mrs. R. E. Mere dith. Hollywood Lions and Hollywood Lions Auxiliary will meet Wednes day, March 9, 6:30 p. m. at the Lions Den for a no-host dinner. The auxiliary will hold business meeting after the dinner at 9 p. m.
