Jeryme Entlish, Society Editor Salem citizens as well as representatives from all over the valley and state will honor Governor Douglas McKay and Mrs. McKay at a city -wide recep tion and dance Monday night at the Marion hotel. The reception hours will be from 8:30 to 10:30 o'clock with Mayor and Mrs. Robert L. Elfstrom receiving with Governor and Mrs. McKay in the Mirror room at the hotel. Every Salem resident is invited to attend both the reception and combined dances at the ar mor? and Crystal Gardens. There will be no admission charge and the affair is strictly Informal. Salem orchestras engaged to play for dancing include Glenn Woodry. Glenn Williams, Guy Albin and Curt Kenon. r The Mirror room will be festive with large baskets of colorful spring flow ers and greens. The punch tables, to be arranged In the Marine room, will carry out the red,-white and blue color scheme with bouquets of red and white carna tions and blue iris. The armory will be decorated with flags and bunting with large photograph of Governor McKay to be placed oh one wall. A string orchestra from Willamette university will play during the recep tion and includes Betty Kuhlman and Frank Holman, first violins; Phil Blan kenship, second violin; Doris McCain, viola; Lucy Collis, cello; Gladys Blue, atringed-base; and Glennis Allen, piano. a, To Assist at the Reception t : A group of Spinsters who will preside at the punch bowls and serve are the Misses . Newcomers in the capital pictured directly above are Mrs. Warren Hoffman and three children, Danny, who is three, Beth, a fourth grader at Washington school, and Susan, who s six years. The Hoffmans arrived here from Portland. Connecticut in January and purchased the Robert Dfetrom home on Center street. He is now associated with the Teague Lumber company of Salem; (Kennell-Ellis). In the circle at the left Is Mrs. Roiand W. Mersereau and children. Susan and Peter, who left for Portland the past week to make their home. Mn Mersereau. who has been associated with the Terminal Ice and Cold Storage Co. ihere. has been transferred to the Portland office of the company. The Mersereaus made their home in Portland, prior to moving to Salem several years ago. (Kennell-Ellis). Pearsons to Entertain Also on Wednesday's social agenda is the ljirormai home for which State Treasurer and Mrs. Walter J. Pearson will be hosts later in the afternoon at Shattuc's Chateau with calling hours between 4 and 6 o'clock. Bidden are members of both the senate and house, the legislative press and their wives. :: f A Dinner For Delegates Mrs. James W. Mott and Miss Dorothea Steusloff will be hostesses for a buffet dinner party Thursday night at the former's country home at Zena. The affair is being arran ged in compliment to a group of delegates and their wives, who attended the nationarrepublican convention In Phila delphia last summer, who .are here during the legislature.
