The group voted also to assist in collections for the Red Cross drive. Mrs. Florence Kron, Parrish school. Mrs. Martha Pinson Salem high school and Quenton Aubol, West Salem junior high school, were elected to the nominating committee Thursday Elections will be held at the April meeting. Districts Ask Basic School Support Hike More basic school svpport mon ey derived from income taxes as offset for property taxes was unanimously favored by an or ganization of Marion county se cond and third class school dis tricts which met this week at Hayesville. This was the second such meeting of the representa tives of the smaller districts. Ray Heckart, chairman of Sun nyside district. 96C, is secretary of the group of eight second and third class districts will be held 1 chairman of Rosedale district 5, is chairman of the organization. Plans for a meeting with the Marion county rural school board were discussed and another meet ing of the organized second and third clans istricts will be held shortly at Hayesville school. No date was set. Besides Rosedale. Sunnyside i and Hayesville districts others j represented were Brooks, Park ersville, Pratum, Silver Crest and Lake Labish. Another meeting will be held at Hayesville a"t the call of the chairman, it was decided. Lorance Dossett To Give Concert In Dallas Tonight DALLAS, Feb. 3-(Special) -Lorance Dossett, a tenor of wide ex perience irfTadio, church and con cert singing, will appear in con cert at Firs Christian church here at 8 p. m. Jhis Friday. He will be accompanied by his wife. Dossett. former dean of music for the Northwest Christian col ' leae in Kugtne, is now minister of music at First Christian church, Olyn pia. Wash , and is featured as soloist by a radio station of that city. He has sung over many radio stations and has been featured in some 300 concerts throughout the nortnwest southwest and California. The church announces that the concert is open to the public. An offering will be taken. Jefferson Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Wolf of Marion have bought the Carl Newland house on Third street. n 1 r J J Lions Club Tells of Oregon Trail Trip Dr. John W. Beard, retired Pres byterian pastor, told Salem Lions club Thursday of the 2,500-mile horseback ride he and his wife made las spring and summer along the old Oregon trail from Oregon City to Independence, Mo. Hr described their trip as a suc cessful search for the American spirit, for aaventure, romance and beauty. The couple celebrated its ' 40th wedding anniversary en route.
