Bruce 'Me reald was. in charge of the princess selection. The identity of the sweetheart will be kept a secret until - the Biht of the Hi-Y Sweetheart dance at the high school gymna sium on Saturday, February 12. Kurt Kenyon's orchestrar has been engaged for dancing. Glenn Kleen, Hi-Y council president, is general chairman of the dance. Hosts for the affair re the three Hi-Y chapters, Ar thur Cotten, Jim Cook, president; Harrison Elliot. Dick Fuhr, presi dent; and Abel Gregg, Tom Pau lus, president. Mrs. Wagers to Head Auxiliary The ladies' auxiliary to the Na tional Association of Letter Car riers met at the home of Mrs. t-auchlen Hodges on Thursday for the monthly meeting. Mr. Fontaine left ' Thursday night for New York City, where he will be connected with Stone and Webster, an engineering ser vice corporation. Pickett (Margaret Allyn) now of Oswego, will be interested to learn of her appointment Vs gov ernor of district 10 for-AJpha Phi sorority. The district she will su pervise includes the University of Oregon, Oregon Stats college, the University of Washington and the University of British Colum bia. Mrs. Pickett will leave today to Join Mrs. Lynn Latts, a for mer Portlander now living in Yakima, Wash., who is the gov ernor of district 1 1 which includes Washington State college. Whit man college, the University of Montana and the University of Idaho. They will go to Evanston, I1U to attend the district gover nor's conference in the Orrington hotel February 1, 2 and 3. Mrs. Pickett and Mrs. Latta were members of the 1028 gradu ating class at the University of Oregon. Mrs. Pickett has been in Salem this month with her hus band, who is hers on business during the legislative session. She plans to return in a week. SALEM HEIGHTS The Little Garden club of Salem Heights met Thursday with Mrs. William Nei meyer. Ivan Newton of Oregon State college spoke on landscap ing and showed colored slides of flowers and shrubs. Donald Ras musseh, extension agent, intro duced the speaker. Mrs. Hugh Dowd and Mrs. Hunt Clark re ceived membership applications. The next meeting will be Febr uary with Mrs. Alyce Edmundson. A Bridal Shower Miss Loritta Bowman, bride elect of Thomas Meier, was hon ored at a bridal shower Friday night when Mrs. Clyde Cardy and Mrs. Emma Vesper entertained at the Cardy home on North 17th street. A pink and white color scheme was used with a center piece of pink and white roses flanked by matching tapers. The wedding of the couple will take place in February. Busy with handcrafts are the Jiminy Crickets and the American Blue Birds. Mary Pat Clark was the hostess for the Jimminy Crick ets who spent their hour painting puppets. Ribbons and powder were made into sachets by the American Blue Birds with Barbara Kuiper and Janet Edminister the hostes ses. The little girl, who weighed nine pounds, one ounce, has a sister, Leanne isaun. The Dany's grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Herbert B. Glalsyer.
