Wheat Closes Higher After Shaky Opening By William Ferris CHICAGO. Dec. 20 -iJP)- Wheat ended with a show of strength on the board of trade today after shaking off some early faint-heart-edness. The bread cereal closed with gains extending to a cent, giving the best performance of all grains. Corn and oats ended with small losses. They reversed the action of wheat, staring off linn and then sliding' late in the day. Action of three major grains indicated there may have been some switching of positions by local traders. Wheat prices have fallen back be low a point where it is profitable to redeem wheat under the gov ernment loan and sell it in the free market, grain men said.
