The Statesman A well-rounded cross section of Oregon life, including 13 farmer ranchers and 11 attorneys, will comprise Oregon's 60 - member house of representatives at its 1949 session starting January 10. Five are insurance men, two are labor leaders, two editors, two of fice managers, two merchants, two warehousemen. Other professions are represent ed by one each lumberman, housewife, mechanical engineer, deputy district attorney, shipfit ter, shipbuilder, dairyman, stock man, auto camp owner, metal con tractor, building contractor, cater er, researcher, nurseryman. Farm er Union official, PUD association leader, hotel owner, trucker, forest engineer, fruit packer and frater nity representative. One Woman in Group The lone woman is Mrs. Grace O. Peck, Portland democrat. There are 49 republicans, 11 democrats (compared with 58 re publicans and two democrats last session). Twenty-seven of the members will be in the house for the first time. The other 33 will be serving from their second term upwards, some of them coming back after a several years' absence. Some of them have formed a more or less permanent connection in Salem and know right where they will live here. Many others have been hunting for houses or apartments for several weeks.
