Wells of Corvallis. The wedding of the couple is planned to tak place during the holidays. Mrs. Shaffer is well known in Salem and vicinity as for the past two years she has served as home demonstration agent for Polk county. She is a graduate of Ore gon State college and a member of Delta Zeta sorority, serving as president of the Salem alumnae group this year. Mr. Wells, a prominent Corvallis business man. served as manager of J. C. Penny store there until this fall. He is now in the mer chandising business in Sweet Home, where the couple will Live, Mr. Wells is also an active mem-i ber of the Lions club. Mrs. Florher Honors Sister Mrs. Max R. Flohrer was hos tess Friday at her home on North Church street to a group of friends honoring her sister, Mrs. H. G. Ganer, who is leaving Monday for her home in Burling ton. Iowa after a two week's visit here. Invited by the hostess to com pliment her sister were Mrs. Beth Fry. Mrs. Esther Little, Mrs. Alta Hanson, Mrs. Thelma Brown, Mrs. Bertha Houston, Mrs. Calvin Bressler, Mrs. Floyd Kibbe, Mrs. Edward Ownens, Mrs. George Durham. Band Dinner On Monday Salem high school band mem bers and their families will be en tertained at the annual no-host Christmas dinner and program Monday night, Ihe affair to be sponsored by the Salem Band par ents. The dinner will be held at the Salem high school cafeteria at 6:45 o'clock. Both high school A and B band members, their par ents and families are invited to at tend. The committee in charge of the program includes E. Donald Jes sop, and U. Q. Wolfer, Phil Ringle will be master of ceremonies. The program includes numbers by the string orchestra, directed by Vic tor Palmason; marimba numbers by Wayne Mercer; Violin selec tions by Bonnie Litchenberg; Trombone solos by Daryl Peters: readings by Carolyn Matter; saxo- by the group, directed by Mr. Jessop. Hughes, Mr. Mason Bishop, Mrs. W. W. Chadwick and Mrs. Ralph The dinner committee includes Mesdames E. R. Owens, general chairman, Glenn Weaver, H. W. Gortmaker, G. M. Dean, Willard Bartlett, Ralph Mercer, Messrs. Roy Todd, president, Ray Dahlen and E. R. Owens. Rotary Women's Party Annual Christmas party for the Women of Rotary will be held Monday at the Golden Pheasant with a one o'clock luncheon, fol lowed by a short business meet ing. A Christmas program has been arranged by Mrs. Roy Har land. Miss Jessie Fairham of Kent, England ,will tell about Christmas in England; Miss Syl via Kjelstad of Oslo. Norway, will talk of the customs of Nor way at Christmas time. Joseph ine Albert Spaulding will sing a group of Christmas songs with Mrs. P. H. Brydon the accom panist. Members will bring gifts for the Christmas tree exchange and the group will send a CARE package. Garden Club Honored Kingwood Garden club mem bers were entertained at a Christ mas party Thursday at the home phone numbers by Bob Wilson: i of Mrs. Don Kuhn. A one o'clock and Christmas carols to be sung 1 luncheon was followed by a pro gram and gift exchange. Attending were Mrs. Robert Pattison, a guest. Mrs, J. I. Mil ler, Mrs. Fred Kuhn, Mrs. Rob ert Forster, Mrs. H. D. Hamm, Mrs. John Boening, Mrs. Lynn Richardson of Dallas, Mrs. Eliza beth Hoffman, Mrs. Jennie Daw son, Mrs. Mae White and the hostess. War Mothers to Have Party American War Mothers will hold their annual Christmas party and exchange of gifts at the Salem Woman's clubhouse Tuesday. A covered dish luncheon will be served t 12:30. Mrs. Ben Randall is in charge of the hospital committee and will receive contributions for the Rose burg veterans hospital. Arrange ments have been made to donate money to the Roseburg and Port land hospitals and Mrs. H. A. Smart, president, has appointed committees to take charge.
