Wedding bells will ring at Christmas time for Miss Phyllis Joy MacGregor and Robert C El gin, who will be married on Mon day, December 27 at the First Congregational church. The cou ple's engagement was announced last spring. The 8 o'clock nuptials will be performed by the Rev. Seth Hunt ington and a reception will foi st low in the fireplace room.; After their wedding trip the couple will make their home in Salem. The brunette bride-to-be is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John M. MacGregor and her fiance is the son of Mrs. Harrison W. Elgin. Both graduated from Oregon State college last June. Miss MacGreg or is a member of Kappa Kappa ' Gamma and the Spinsters and Mr. Elgin's fraternity is Alpha Tau Omega. Thanksgiving Theme of Luncheon Thanksgiving will be the theme f the Women of Rotary bullet luncheon and meeting Monday afternoon at the Golden Pheas ant at one o'clock. Mrs. Abner Kline will preside at the short business meeting and Mrs. Homer Smith,-Jr., is in charge of the pro gram. In keeping with the ap proaching holiday season unique and special recipes will be given by Women of Rotary members. Mrs. P. H. Brydon will give piano selections. Box Social for Junior Club A feature of the Salem Junior Woman's club meeting Monday night will be a box social at the clubhouse at 8 o'clock. Club mem bers, husbands and guests are in vited to attend. Entertainment will precede the social and Miss Hattie Bratzel, a club member, will show colored slides on Germany and other Eu ropean countries she visited the past year. Mrs. Peery T. Mor- rell Crary. Couple to Live In Salem SILVERTON The heme of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Ryan will be the scene of the wedding of their daughter, Miss Kathleen Ryan, to Robert Bechtell, Salem, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Bechtell of Prine ville, this afternoon at 4 o'clock with the Rev. John Goodenburger of First Presbyterian church in Salem officiating. For her wedding the bride will wear a two-piece rose brocaded satin suit with headdress of white stephanotis and she will -carry a bouquet of stephanotis centered with green orchidsv- ' . j Mrs. Denzel Legard will be the matron of honor and will wear a brown faille dress and will carry. a bouquet of yellow and bronze chrysanthemums. William Collier of Salem will be the best man. At the reception Mrs. Clarence W. Keen and Mrs. Henry Pritz laff will pour and Mrs. Norman Eastman will cut the cake. Club Women Will Hear Mr. Weaver Glenn Weaver, supervisor of the state department of occupa tional information and guidance, will be the guest speaker at the Salem Woman's club meeting Sat urday afternoon, November 27, at 2 o'clock. Boyle, whose engagement to Richard Moorhouse, son?(of Mrs. Mabel Moorhouse, all of Salem, has been revealed. No date has been set for the wedding. The AAUW radio broadcast over KOAC Tueday afternoon at 2 o'clock will feature Dr. Victor P. Morris, Eugene dean of the School of Business Administration at the University of Oregon. His subject will; be "The Educated Citizens Responsibility Toward Alcohol." Rainbow Girls Will Initiate Chadwick assembly Order of the Rainbow for Girls will hold initiation at Masonic temple on Tuesday night. The bride is the daughter of the Ray Crawfords and her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Trowbridge. The Rev. Lloyd Anderson performed the nuptials and Mrs. Anderson was the soloist. William Fawk was the organist. Lighting the tapers were Mrs. Jack Kuhn and Mrs. Allan Swaboda, who wore pink and blue hoop skirted dresses. Mr. Crawford gave his daugh ter in marriage. Her bridal gown was of white satin with lace bo dice and full bishop sleeves of lace. The full skirt ended in a train. Mrs. Jul Faar made her granddaughter's veil of illusion and lace and she carried a bou quet of pink roses and stephan otis. Mrs. Charles Haven, jr. of Long Beach, Calif., was the bride's only attendant and wore a yellow mar quisette frock over taffeta and a shoulder length veil of pale green caught to a crown of pastel flow ers. She carried a bouquet of yel low roses. Rex Simmons stood with the groom as best man and ushers were Jack Kuhn, Harlan Craw ford and Stanley Crawford. Mrs. Crawford wore an aqua marine blue crepe gown with black accessories for the wedding and the groom's mother chose a burgundy crepe. Their corsages were of roses. At the reception In the church parlors Mrs. Fred Kinsley, aunt of the bride, presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. Jul Faar cut the cake and Mrs. George Crawford, also a grandmother of the bride, poured. Assisting were Mesdames John Meier, Harlan Crawford, Misses Lenore Beam, Janet Anderson, Joyce Ziegenthauler and Ruth Pauline Fugate. Gloria Brines and Mrs. Gene Borthwick sang during the reception with Mrs. E. Gar rett the accompanist. The couple will be at home on Mrs. Ealph Caley entertained Saturday night for Witchita, Kan sas to spend the Thanksgiving ?liday with her mother, Mrs. F. S. McMullen. She will be ac companied by her aunt, Mrs. A. L. Horsman of Kansas City, Mo., who is returning to her home after a visit in Salem at the Caley home. Mrs. Caley plans to return to Sa lem in mid-December by way of Colorado Springs. League Will Give Party "United Nations" is the theme for the Salem League of Women Voters party to be given Friday night, November 26 at the May flower hall at 8 o'clock. Guests bidden to the post-holiday party are foreign students those recent ly naturalized, G. I. brides from other countries, and foreign born residents of the Salem commune ity. Additional guests will be hus bands and friends of league mem bers. The entertainment will include a folk dancing demonstration, in strumental music and games ap propriate to the United Nations theme, talks by school superin tendent Frank Bennett, and Mrs. John Burcham, who attended the UNESCO meeting. Miss Joy Hills will be mistress of ceremonies and hostesses in costumes of other countries will be Mrs. E. E. Ling, Mrs. Hal De Sart, Mrs. Gerald Brownbill, Mrs. Robert E. Gangware, Mrs. E. B. Mrs. William McGilchrlst, Jr. Is leaving today for Portland to re main over the Thanksgiving holi days with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Buck.
