Michigan Couple Visit In Hubbard HUBBARD Rev. and Mrs. John Dickey had as their .guests the Rev. A. R. Elliott, Cons tan tine, Mich.; Margaret Dickey, Ce dar Rapids, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Dickey, Forest Grove, and the Rev. and Mrs. Paul G. Dickey and family of Portland. Mrs. Emma Miller and Mrs. Anna Scholl went to Albany last week to visit Mr.: and Mrs. Anton Will. The latter, is a brother of Mrs. Scholl and a cousin of Mrs. Miller. Lawrence Miller, machinist's ac countant, 3rd class, has returned home following his discharge from the United States navy. He was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval training station. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sherman, Eddie and her brother visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sherman last week. They were enroute to Richmond, Calif., after 8 trip to Seattle. Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Miller and sons have returned, from a vaca tion with relatives in the Red woods near Garberville, Cal., and In Medford. Mrs. Miller's aunt, Mrs. Elsie Barker and Sandra Huff arrived at Garberville for a month's visit just before the Mil lers left. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Dominick . entertained her sister and Mrs. Jim Whaley and family last week. Two other sisters, Irene arid Char lotte, returned to Hermiston with Whaleys. Floyd Dominick jr. has gone to LaGrande for the rest of the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Gale Bare are spending two weeks with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Knute Peter son, while Bare works in Salem. Detroit Party , In Car Mishap DETROIT Early Sunday a car driven by Al Brandon went over the grade three miles west of Suttle Lake. Occupants were taken to a Red mond hospital where Charles Aus tin was dismissed with minor cuts. Melvin Wright 'Suffered a severe neck injury and Al Brandon a leg injury. Lentz and Bruce Lentz drove to Newport Sunday. Mrs. Lincoln Gilpin, who took her infant daughter to Bend last ' Wednesday when it had an attack ; of pneumonia, is expected home ; this week. E. Maw, both of Salem, are fishing in this vicinity and in central Oregon. Mike McNerney is the great grand son of John Minto for whom Min to creek was named. Mr. and Mrs. Vern R. Morgan went to Bend Saturday on busi ness. Andy Meyerhofer has moved back to Aumsville. He formerly worked for the Jostie Lumber compally here. Mrs. James Dargan has been visiting her mother, Mrs.' Dean Smith, and Mrs. Grace Smith is also visiting them. Esther Fouts and Myrtle Gerton of Idanha spent a short time at Marion Forks Sunday.' ! Canadian Visit Is Vacation Plan MIDDLE GROVE Mrs. Flor ence Wright is vacationing in Bellingham, Wash., with her cousin, and will also go up into Canada before returning home. The Emory Goode family left Monday for a trip to Yellowstone National park and other points of interest. The Lee Daws had as Sunday guests their children, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Shultz of Portland and Mr. and Mrs. Murray Dow and son Phillip of Castle Rock, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. M. Moners of Los Angeles were visitors last week at the J. J. Ackerman home. Attending a three day conven tion of the Woman's Society of World Service of the Evangelical United Brethren church held at Jennings Lodge were Mrs. Roy Scofield, Mrs. Carl Snyder, Mrs. W. H. Scharf, Mrs. John Van Laanen, Mrs. Lee Dow and Mrs. J. Ackerman. Talbot Residents on Oregon Coast Vacation JEFFERSON Mrs. J. C. Hart ley, Marion road, is in a Eugene hospital for treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Belknap of Talbot and Mrs. Janet Brown, Lynn and Ardis spent several days fishing at Waldport. Mrs. Wilma Eagle and son Dickie of Talbot have returned from Newport where they have spent a week vacationing. GervoJs Man Sells Farm GERVAIS Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Messick have sold their farm and moved to Silverton. George T. Wadsworth, owner and president of Gervais State bank, has been a patient at the Salem Memorial hospital follow ing an appendectomy. Mrs. Dorothy Pillette of Port land is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Fred Manning. Roberta Jones and her brother, Winston, are spending a three weeks vacation with relatives in Haines. Ore. Benjamin F. Moisan, business manager of the California state hospital at Patton, Calif., is spend ing his vacation visiting with his father. Mayor G. J. Moisan. Dean E. The Aumsville I firemen's ball team lost to the Dallas townies 7 to 3 at Dallas last week, topped the Mayflower Milk team of Salem 7 to 3 at Aumsville and won the league game with Sweet Home Indians, 16 to 4 at Aumsville. They play at Scio Sunday August 1. Albany, Lebanon and Aumsville are tied for first in the second half of the conference; Polk School District Approves Tax Levy PEDEE Voters of the newly consolidated school district ap proved a levy of $2517.35 in. ex cess of the 6 per cent tax- limit at a meeting Saturday. A vote of appreciation was given Mrs. C. L. Burbank for her serving as clerk of union high district No. 1 since its formation in 1927, missing only two meetings; to Gus Jahn, who served as director from Fir Grove the same tune. I Jahn also acted as clerk of Fir Grove for 23 years.
