Chi Omega, Delta Gamma and Pi Beta Phi sororities and their dates. Richard Dix and his or chestra of Portland will play for the affair and the theme of the dance is "It's Dream Time." Guets will enter the hall through an old fashioned gold pocket watch. The false ceiling will be dark blue with sparkling stars and a crescent moon. Juniors Plan for June Ceremony SILVFRTON Plans for the annual Ceremony of the Rose to be held in June were made Wed nesday night by members of the Junior Women's club when they were entertained at the home of Mrs John Myers. While the exact date for the ceremony has not yet been set it was planned for mid-June at the First Chris tian church. Members of tha sen ior Women's club will be special guests and the ceremonial serv ice will be open to tha public. To be initiated are Mrs. Viola Mills. Mrs. El ma Smedstedt. Three Recitals Are Scheduled The high school students of Sacred Heart School of Music will appear in recital tonight at 8 o'clock in St. Joseph's hall. Music pupils of the upper grades of St. Joseph's school will be presented Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and those of tha lower grades Wednesday afternoon. May 26, at 2 o'clock. Coeds Reveal Betrothals On Campus Two more Willamette univer sity coeds have added their names to the ever-growing list of brides-elect. The engagement of Miss Melva Williamson to- Paul Cookingham was announced at the Delta Gam ma annual spring breakfast on Sunday. The wedding will take place on June 27 at the Calvary Baptist church in Salem, after which they will leave on a six weeks trip. Miss Williamson graduated from Willamette last June and served as president of the Delta Gamma house. She is now teach ing music at the Roseburg high school. Mr. Cookingham is phy sical education director at the Sa lem YMCA and next fall will hold a coaching and teaching po sition at Franklin high school in Portland. His fiancee will teach in one of the Portland elemen tary schools. News Teld at Hall The engagement of Miss Eliza beth Guttridge and Albert R. Mc- Mullen was announced recently at j Frederickson hall. Miss Guttridge. daughter of Mrs. Rose Guttridge of Estacada. is a junior at Wil lamette university, majoring in history. Mr. McMullen. son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert McMullen cy Taft, also attends Willamette where he is completing his soph omore year as a pre-law student. He is affiliated with Phi Alpha fraternity and was recently elect ed second vice president of th student body for the year 148 1949 The wedding has tentatively been set for June, 1949. Mrs. Skiff Feted By War Mothers The American War Mothers enjoyed a social afternoon Tues- j day when they met at the home j of Mis. Bertha Viesko. 1343 South 1 Liberty for a no-host luncheon, j The tables were decoratrd with j spring flowers and there were 31 guests present. Games were a i diversion during the afternoon. Mrs. Ada V. Skiff celebrated , her birthday and was honor guest of the War Mothers at this meet- ! ing. A birthday cake was cut by Mrs. Skiff for her friends, and she read a poem as her birthday message. Cop-ettes Plan Dinner Party Cop-Ettes held their regular meeting Wednesday with Mrs. Ev erett Odle. Plans were made for a covered dish dinner to be held for all police officers and their families at Mayflower hall Sun day at 8 p.m. Assisting Mrs. Odle were Mrs. Walter Esplin and Mrs. Archie Wilson. The next business meet ing will be with Mrs. Frank Sloan, 395 South 16th street, May 23 at 8 p.m. PEP Teachers Name Officers The PEP Teachers club met at the Salem Heights school for the last meeting of the year. A no host dinner was served in the school cafeteria. Annual Dinner For Choir The choir of the First Christian church has scheduled its annual semi-formal dinner for Tuesday night. May 23, at the Golden Pheasant. Vida Flood, social chairman, is in charge of arrange ments. F. Peter Laron, president of the group, will serve, as toast master. Other officers of the group include Pat Weese, secre tary; Pearl Speer. treasurer; Gladys Schollian, robe custodian; and John Schmidt, director. Following the dinner the group will be entertained by Gene Ma lecki, impersonator. Several reels of moving pictures will also be shown. Miss Edna Luck er returned to the capital this week following a months trip In the east She visited her old home in Buffalo, New York and Niagara Falls. Before returning west she stopped in Washington, D.C. for a stay with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Lucker. Dr. Mary B. Purvine arrived in Salem Wednesday from a ten day j motor trip south. She visited in Berkeley with her daughter. Miss Margaret Purvine, and went on to Santa Barbara for a stay with her other daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew H. Burnett Mrs. Harold Hauk is leaving today for a month's stay in Illinois to visit with members of her fam ily.
