J4 The (Lnedzios9 G Semators Mclrvin Racks Sixth Victory WENATCHEE, May 20 -(Special)- Shortstop Jo Gedzius of the Salem Senators tonight clout ed a home run over the left field wall with two outs In the tenth inning to five the Solons a 4 to 3 win over Wenatchee In their Western International league aer ies opener. The blow came off Denny Horton, who had relieved Lou McCollum. Horton had only Joined the Chiefs this week after being released from the Texas league. Salem was trailing 3-1 in the eighth when Jim Wert, Prank McMillan and Dick. Sinovic smacked successive doubles to tie the score. Wert and Sinovic com bined for the first Salem run In the first inning. Lefty Cal Mclrvin, although touched for three runs in the third, notched his sixth straight win of the season. He yielded seven hits. Salem got eight. The second game of the series is set for tomorrow night. Ben Schaad's club plays second place Stayton at Sweetland field next Monday afternoon in the league finale at 2:30 p.m. Stayton has won seven, lost one and tied one in league play. Coach Al Ulbricksen readily ad mits a bright future for his Husky oarsmen. He said that be fore the season ended, including the Olympic trials, the Husky crew should be comparable to the one which won the laurel wreath in 1936. But, Ulbricksen pointed out, his crew has been unable to get in much practice on Lake Washington because of rough water.
