Salem was trailing 3-1 in the
eighth when Jim Wert, Prank

smacked successive doubles to tie
the score. Wert and Sinovic com
bined for the first Salem run In
the first inning.
Lefty Cal Mclrvin, although
touched for three runs in the
third, notched his sixth straight
win of the season. He yielded
seven hits. Salem got eight. The
second game of the series is set
for tomorrow night. Tonight's win
elevated the Senators into a tie
with Wenatchee for third place
in the standings.

Coach Al Ulbricksen readily ad

Husky oarsmen. He said that be
fore the season ended, including
the Olympic trials, the Husky
crew should be comparable to
the one which won the laurel
wreath in 1936. But, Ulbricksen
pointed out, his crew has been
unable to get in much practice
on Lake Washington because of
rough water. He insisted the var
sity, along with the frosh and
Junior varsity eights, is not in
the best condition for Saturday's
three mile grind on the Oakland
