Handing the Lawton (Okla.) boys their first defeat of the sea son and giving the west its sec ond straight wiu in the post-season East-West attraction for jun ior college elevens, the Panthers from nearby Ontario forged ahead and won the contest in the last quarter with a three-touchdown splurge. Dec. 13-(;P-The franchise of the Chicago Rockets was terminated today but the ail American conference announced that a new group would be form ed to continue challenging the Bears and Cards of the national league for Chicago pro football pa tronage. Friel PULLMAN, Wash., Dec. 13-JP Washington State Basketball Coach Jack Friel had a sympathetic word for cage officials today and ob served, "I wouldn't referee a col lege basketball game if they gave me the gymnasium. Friel, whose Cougars embark on an eastern barnstorming trip next week, said he has a plan to help the officials when they 'work at Pullman. It's a pre-game clinic on rules to acquaint the crowd with the referee's procedure dur ing the contest. "I wouldn't take the kind of abuse the officials get from fans for anything," ho explained. WL"s Johnny Lewis, who also tutored at Grant In the past, also will be an honored guest non day night Junior Basket Plan Released A 30-game playing schedule for six teams has been released by Athletic Director Vera Gilmore for Salem Junior high school bas ketballing this season. The cam paign will start Friday, January 9, and will end Friday, March 12. Each team will play other teams twice in the double round robin schedule. All games will be play ed on Fridays, three" games a week. Three teams will represent Par rish, the Cardinals, Grays and Pi oneers. Two will come from Les lie, the Blues and Golds. West Salem will have one team. Games will be played both at four o' clock in the afternoon and eight o'clock at night and all will be either before or after "B" con tests.
