Aged Salem Residence to Fall Victim to Parking Space Need One more of Salem's old-time residences along State street, used for some years as a rooming house known as Washington hotel, is due to yield this week to the encroachment of the auto mobile age. An undetermined number of years older than this cen tury, the building, at 558 State st- is to be replaced by a parking lot. Last transaction on the 41 by 150-foot property was Aug. 6, has rented the building for hotel purposes, and previous to that it was operated for approximately a decade by G. D. Bun tin. A small lunch stand occupies, a leas ed corner of the lot and will not be disturbed. Brown said. The proposed parking lot will be operated by his brother, Wer ner Brown, who owns the ad joining service station and park ing lot. The entire quarter block is owned by the estate of Wil liam Brown, whose residence occupied the present service sta tion site. Earlier residents had been Mr. and Mrs.. Edes, parents of Mrs. Meyers, and a Donaldson family. Meyers was the brother of Mil ton L. Meyers, a member of the present city park board.
