He has been released from the navy and is on terminal leave. Also joining the family in the bay city was their other son. Rob bert. a student at St. Mary's College high school. Berkeley. Robert arrived in Salem Wed nesday afternoon to spend the Heights home of his parents. Accompanying Robert was Carl Peterson of San Francisco, a student at SL Joseph's in the bay city. The two boys came north by plane and will return on Tuesday. Markup Burea Jeryaae EngUaa Two Salem Girls Chosen May Queen Candidates PACE SIX Janice Patterson and Virginia Case of Salem and Paula Smith of Stayton were elected at candidates for May Queen of Willamette university to rule over the traditional May weekend festivities on May 4 and 5 at a student body election on Tuesday. One of the three princesses witSbe elected queen at next Wednesday's election - ' and the other two will auto matically be .member i of the royal court. Hiss Patterson, the daughter of Captain and Mrs. Frank B, Patterson of Salem, is a mem ber of Delta Gamma and sec ond vice-president of the asso ciated student body. She served as manager of campus publica ttons for two years. Miss Caso, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Case, is also a Delta Gamma, and served as president of the senior class last semester. She has served as secretary to Dean Chester Lu ther. Miss Smith, tho daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence A. Smith of Stayton, is a member of Pi Beta Phi. She was one of the five finalists in the cam pus beauty queen contest spon sored by the Wallulah year book last week. Runners-up in the queen pri manes were Jano Fitzsimons, Florence Lewis, and Thyra Jean Currey, all of Salem. . Many Attend Bridge Party The Jaycee-etts entertained with a smartly arranged bridge party Monday night at tha Mayflower hall. High honors went to Mrs. Maurice F.bner, bridge; Miss Edith Stewart, pi nochle; and Mrs. Walter Carr, special prue. Refreshments were served lat er in the evening with Mrs. Charles Hoover and Mrs. Ronald Croasland presiding at the urns. - The table was centered with red camellias and white tapers on a white damask cloth. Tea to Honor All Workers Invitations for the Informal tea and prgram to be given April 23 for production workers in Marion county chapter, Amer ican Red Cross, are1' being sent to organizations only, individ uals, being, invited through the newspapers. It is impossible to contact every individual, so U was decided to send invitations to the clubs, the committee in charge states. The meeting, to be held at the Salem Woman's club, will honor all persons who have worked in the production de partment for Red Cross. Mr. and Mrs. P. D.
