Stateliouse 1 Nearly 7ff representatives of the milk industry met at the state house Friday for the hearing on proposed "grades and standards for fluid milk and cream. It was conducted by O. K. Beals, chief of the division of foods and dair ies of ; the state department of agriculture! t ' - 1 : a il x I oeais aiifiuuncea uiai any per sons who wished to submit writ ten or oral statements relative to changes in the proposed grades and standards may do so up to December ! 28.. j ; Grades proposed, in conformity with chapters 368 and 369, 1945 Oregon laws, are four: Grade A raw milk, grade A pasteurized milk, grade B raw milk, and grade B pasteurized milk. j The proposed regulations out line standards for each grade and establish a license fee, suggested at $10, for milking herds of 10 cows or less and one dollar per cow over 10, except the maximum fee shall , tiot exceed $35, in the case of gride A raw and grade B milk. HoWever, dairies of these classes selling milk only within a city having its own milk ordi nance and a state-approved in spection service, will not be re quired to pay a license., .' Several Speakers, approving the grade designations as proposed, emphasized that dairymen should stress quality in their individual production as well as collectively.
