First place last Monday went to the YMCA mt Grand Rapids, Mich. wiui a munis vk 4v. Salem's swimmers have been averaginf approximately one-halt mile a day thus far, with several swimmers doing two miles or over. Dorsey Caspell and Gordon Sloan are still tied for the longest daily distance, each having maintained daily record of over two miles. If they continue the pace, they will each receive the -prize offered by the Salem Y f or the longest daily distance:.-'- The local association is offering a dinner "on the house" to all those swimming a mile a day for 10 out of the 12 contest days. These swimmers wlil also receive a special recognition certificate from the contest headquarters. Those qualifying so fat are Don McCracken, Bill Olinger, Edwm Bauer, Oliver Boline, i Sanf ord Weinstein, Darrel Lawrence, John Hinkle, John Taylor, Earl Pepper, Gordon Sloan, Dorsey Caspell, Bill Allison, and David Boone.
