The affair is being planned yi welcome to two new army wives, Mrs. Samuel Hoys and Mrs. Eugene Foster, who have moved to Salem. Mrs. Hoys is the wife of Colonel Hoys, post commander at Camp Adair, and Colonel Foster Is member of Colonel Hays staff. The informal tea will be from 3 to 5 o'clock and Mrs. Wilham L. Phillips will greet the guests at the door. A group of matrons have been Invited to meet tha newcomers. wcomers. White and Miss Mary Eyre. War Mothers at Holiday Party Members of the America War Mothers met on Tuesday for a Christmas party at the home of Mrs. H. A. Smart Luncheon was served at 1:30 o'clock by tha hostess, assisted by Mrs. Sarah peterson and Mrs. Rose Hage dorn. The tabic and rooms wert decorated with Christmas greens and red candles. During the program period, Mrs. Carrie Chase and Mrs. Min nie Humphreys gave readings and Mrs. Mabel Lockwood fi nished music. An exchange of gifts was participated in by the 84 War Mathers present. Next Tuesday, the War Mo thers will meet at the USO to drap Christmas gifts for the Camp Adair hospital. Li. Richard D. O'Reilly ttt Camp Rucker, Alabama, and Miss Betty O'Reilly of Seattle, are in the capital visiting at the home of their brother-in-law and sis xer, Mr. and Mrs. Sydney H. Kromer. The vv Oman's Relief Corps will meet at the YMCA Friday noon lor a Christmas party and gift exchange. The regular busi ness meeting will follow the covered dish luncheon. When the bride-elect was asked to cut a large wedding cake that centered the table, she found that gifts were concealed inside. C Leavenworth, on South 12th street. Lt. Grewell took of ficer training in the WAC train ing center. Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., and following her leave will go to Fort Des Moines, Iowa, as an instructor. Lt. Grewell will be in Salem for three or four days. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Williams' heard their daughter, Barbara Jean Williams, WAVES, in a broadcast over station KJR, Se attle, on Wednesday. She was interviewed at noon over the regular navy program. Miss Wil liams is now on recruiting duty In Seattle and arrived there three weeks ago from Atlanta, Ga where she has been sta tioned. She- enlisted in August and took her Indoctrination at Hunters college, New York. A daughter; Karen Ingxid. was born on December 10 to Mr. and Mrs. Arne S. Jensen, jr. of Portland. Mrs. Jensen is the former Eleanor Sederstrom. The little girl's grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Oscar F. Se derstrom of Portland, formerly of Salem, and Dr. and Mrs. A S.
