Blaisdell, an aviation cadet. Chaplain R. H. Bothweli per formed the ceremony. Mr. Bark - er gave his daughter in marriage. ; She wore a beige suit, trimmed in chocolate brown, a brown hat and veil. Her accessories were brown, and she wore a corsage of orchids. Lt and Mrs. Dale Shepherd Of Salem attended the couple. The bride's mother wore a suit of soldier blue with a navy hat and navy accessories. Her corsage was of gardenias. ' . The couple will live in Sacra mento. Discussion of business and reports were followed by entertainment and refreshments. Membership chairman, Mrs. James Garson,' reported having passed the quota with 224 mem bers to date. Americanism chair man, Mrs. Jack Nash, explained that copies of the American's creed have been placed in the rooms of all the hotels in Salem, as part of the nation-wide proj ect of the National Americanism committee. A vote decided that local newspapers would be sent to the Veterans hospitals at Portland and Roseburg. .Mrs. W. H. Ban lie announced that work had be gun on the seal sale mailing at the office of the Marion County Health association with Mrs. Os car Cutler in charge. Mrs. Earl Andresen received the special war stamp prize. ' ' ' ' 1 " : r 2 cups sifted enriched flour : I teaspoons baking powder , 1 teaspoon salt 2 to 4 tablespoons shortening to cup milk' . ' Brown meat and onions in hot fat Add salt and pepper. Add peas and juice, carrots, and lima beans. Blend two extra tablespoons flour and water to gether to . make a thick paste. Add to vegetable mixture and cook until thick. Pour into cas serole. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Cut or rub in shortening. Add ' milk to form soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured board and knead a half minute. Roll dough -inch thick. Cut with 2 -inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits around edge on top of vegetable mixture. Bake in hot oven (450 F.) 10 to 12 minutes or until biscuits are browned. Serves six. - Anderson Urges College Army PORTLAND, Oct 20H!P-Dr. E. J. Anderson, former Lmfield col lege president, believes the United States should return to .its world war policy of training a college army. "Keep . the young men in college for a possible nine months and give them army training too," suggested Dr. Anderson, now president of t h e University of Redlands, in an Interview. Otherwise he said the drafting of:18-and 19-year-olds will turn all our colleges into girls schools or else cripple the colleges so that many will have to fold up for, the duration' some permanently.
