2 cups sifted enriched flour
: I teaspoons baking powder ,
1 teaspoon salt
2 to 4 tablespoons shortening
to cup milk' .
' Brown meat and onions in hot
fat Add salt and pepper. Add
peas and juice, carrots, and
lima beans. Blend two extra
tablespoons flour and water to
gether to . make a thick paste.
Add to vegetable mixture and
cook until thick. Pour into cas
serole. Sift flour, baking powder
and salt together. Cut or rub
in shortening. Add ' milk to
form soft dough. Turn out on
lightly floured board and knead
a half minute. Roll dough -inch
thick. Cut with 2 -inch
biscuit cutter. Place biscuits
around edge on top of vegetable
mixture. Bake in hot oven
(450 F.) 10 to 12 minutes or
until biscuits are browned.
Serves six. -

J. Anderson, former Lmfield col
lege president, believes the United
States should return to .its world
war policy of training a college
army. "Keep . the young men in
college for a possible nine months
and give them army training too,"
suggested Dr. Anderson, now
president of t h e University of
Redlands, in an Interview.
Otherwise he said the drafting
of:18-and 19-year-olds will turn
all our colleges into girls schools
or else cripple the colleges so that
many will have to fold up for, the
duration' some permanently. "
