Supper for Rushees Given . ; Members of the Delta Phi sorority were hostesses last night at a rush party for new girls on the Willamette campus. Sprague, members of . Mrs. Brand's hospitality committee of the Hostess league will.be host esses at a tea on Monday, Sep tember 21. This party is given for wives of army officers living in Salem and includes newcomers whose husbands are stationed near Salem, and residents of the city whose husbands are officers stationed elsewhere. The tea is for the purpose of acquainting the wives with each other and is not lor townspeople. The tea is from 3 to 5 o'clock. Invitations are being extended through the press and through - the camp announcements, but no formal Invitations are being issued. Salmon Idea Utilizes Biscuit Chopped parsley is gay acces sory to the biscuit topping for fish dishes. It's the latest style in biscuit toppings, and in bis cuits served "solo" with fall meals.-.. ;. Make a salmon pie by combin ing flaked salmon, peas, and a thick white sauce. Season well, and top with drop biscuits. Bake in moderately hot oven (400 de trees F.) untu the biscuits are browned. Individual casseroles of es calloped fish go high hat when served with fancy shaped bis cuits. The cutters from a bridge cookie set gives the biscuits their shape. . . Flaked tuna fish combined with white sauce and served on crisp brown toast or flaky bis cuits makes good fall eating. Combine Yi cup chopped - celery, cup peas, 1 cup flaked drained salmon, and 2 chopped hard-cooked eggs. Roll out bis cuit dough Yt inch thick and' cut into 4-inch squares. Place spoon ful of salmon mixture in each square, bring corners . together, - and seat Bake on ungreased baking sheet in moderately hot oven (425 degrees) about 15 min utes. They are delicious served with egg sauce. Fondue Makes Main Dish Cheese serves a dual purpose when it goes into fondue, for it makes a meat substitute and uses up leftover bread. CHEESE FONDUE Mix together 1 cup bread cubes, 3 cup grated cheese, 1 cup hot milk, 3 beaten eggs, 2 ta blespoons melted butter,. Yt cup j chopped, salted peanuts, teas poon salt and teaspoon pap-j rika. Pour into buttered baking j dish and ' bake 35 minutes in moderately slow oven (325).. Today's Menu Friday, and we'll have a meat substitute today. ' Sliced tomatoes and Crab salad Neapolitan macaroni Battered green beans Fried sponge caka . Peach sauce - NEAPOLITAN MACARONI: Add 23 cup sliced or grated cheese to 2 cups well seasoned white sauce. Add 3 cups cooked macaroni, 2 sliced hard-cooked eggs and 1 tablespoon chopped parsley.
